PURPOSE OF THE JOB



  • To develop and improve Alstom’s Obsolescence Management process for Products, Projects & Solutions  for Charleroi Site

  • To support Service Obsolescence Management activities

POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES

Key Accountabilities

Obsolescence Management

  • Support to Define Alstom organisation for Obsolescence Management, and be Process correspondant for Obsolescence Management, ensuring that Alstom’s Obsolescence Management process is aligned with Alstom objectives, customer requirements and norms
  • Manage site Obsolescence team; set and manage budgets
  • Manage Reference Library for Obsolescence Management
  • Facilitate and support the development and maintenance of obsolescence management plans with Product Platforms , Projects and Fleet Centres of Excellence (Build & Service)
  • Review and validate obsolescence management plans
  • With Sourcing and Supply Chain, develop obsolescence management capability in Suppliers through use of Supplier Charter, Audits and Obsolescence Management Plans
  • Validate product structures and Bills of Material for obsolescence monitoring from Product Units (Design Authority), Suppliers and other sources such as Illustrated Parts Catalogue, and load in TOMSYS
  • Manage periodic project obsolescence reports including Performance Indicators
  • Facilitate supplier obsolescence review meetings

Expertise, Tool & System Development

  • Participate and promote   Obsolescence Management CCN (Core Competence Network)
  • Develop and deploy technical tools & systems to manage obsolescence
  • Ensure that future Alstom IS development takes account of obsolescence management needs
  • Share experience & knowledge of obsolescence management with others

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

Engineering degree, or equivalent (recognised university degree)

Desirable:

Member of Engineering Institute, or equivalent



Experience

Mandatory:

  • 5 years experience in technical role in rail or similar industry
  • experience in management role in rail or similar industry
  • Knowledge of rail vehicles & sub-systems
  • Knowledge of Information Systems including ERP and Product Data Management

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of electronic system design and industrialisation, preferably in rail or similar
  • Obsolescence Management knowledge



Competencies & Skills



  • Obsolescence Management (Alstom WCE)

  • Design & industrialisation of electronic equipment
  • IT: MS-Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word) essential; MS Access and Visio + SAP desirable
  • English & French language (minimum Level 2 if not mother tongue)
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – managing a local team
  • Continuous improvement – ability to innovate continuously and effectively
  • Organisation and planning – good time management and delivery
  • Communication skills – international, and with internal and external correspondents
