As Instruments and Controls Engineer II you will provide technical support and expertise for the instrument and controls systems for the Covanta Facility located in Miami. You will need to ensure the continuous, safe and reliable operation of the instrumentation and control systems using your knowledge to trouble shoot, resolve problems and the design and install systems.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide ongoing improvements to the control systems in support of production, optimization, safety and reliability.
Provide a design capability for plant improvement projects, including control strategies, configuration of control systems and instrument specifications.
Respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control and instrumentation expertise is required.
Mange technical support service providers such as DCS, Safety and Gas Turbines.
Review facility instrument and analyzer maintenance activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to all specifications, Codes, and standards.
Evaluate capital project scopes and vendor proposals for new equipment purchases.
Practices and improves loop tuning and process control troubleshooting skills.
Experience with Alarm Management Processes.
Conduct failure mode analyses and root cause investigations to identify failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
Assist in the training / coaching of hourly personnel in repairs and preventative maintenance.
Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Electrical or equivalent.
Minimum two years experience in similar role.
Requires in depth knowledge of PLCs, DCS, Instrumentation and Analyzer systems.
Actual experience in design/maintenance of PLC, DCS, plant instrumentation and analyzer systems, and associated failure analysis, strongly desired.
Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: Siemens-TI Series, Allen-Bradley PLC’s and WonderWare HMI.
