Position Summary

The Systems Engineer Specialist will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT systems that support core organizational and manufacturing functions. The primary responsibilities for this role include server management (virtual and physical), backups and disaster recovery, cloud email and application management, mobile device management/endpoint management, and escalations from IT help desk technicians. A successful candidate will assist in evaluating and selecting technologies required to achieve necessary business goals across all company locations. Additionally, this role will remediate internal system vulnerabilities, ensure that all systems are patched regularly, and improve the systems and processes that are currently in place. This role will serve as the expert responsible for providing guidance on best industry IT infrastructure standard practices and will aide in developing governances and processes for securing the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Provide server support and maintenance for virtual and physical servers spanning on-premises and cloud data centers.
Experience designing & building infrastructure in Microsoft's Azure cloud including virtual networks/vNets, firewalls, VMs, IaaS, virtual network gateways, storage accounts, etc.
Support IT infrastructure applications and features such as Microsoft 365, Cloud VOIP, Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, etc.
Lead Infrastructure projects as a technical resource, including the ability to oversee planning of resources and develop detailed execution plans for both project and operational work.
Lead on Veeam backups (server & Microsoft 365) as well as disaster recovery (Microsoft Azure Site Recovery).
General IT engineer tasks as delegated by IT Infrastructure Director.
Identify, document, publish and uphold systems policies, standards, procedures, checklists, agreements, diagrams, inventory, etc.
Assist with configuring and installing switches, AP's and LTE network devices as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

4-5 years’ experience as a systems engineer in a small to mid-sized organization.
Excellent technical skills including but not limited to Microsoft Server OS 2012 R2-2022, PowerShell, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, Teams, VMware, Veeam, Endpoint Manager, WSUS, Networking (both LAN and WAN), DNS, DHCP.
Excellent documentation skills including procedures, diagrams, and maps.
Experience with PowerShell scripting to create an automation task or run a procedure.
Proven ability to self-manage IT projects and timelines while communicating well with team members.
Strong understanding of IT security standards related to server patching, email, mobility, and data/backups.

Preferred Qualifications

2-year or 4-year degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field
MCSE, Azure, or M365 Certification
Experience with Fortinet and CradlePoint products

Job Setting & Physical Demands

Employees in this position work primarily indoors but may be required to ambulate between locations within a large outdoor environment. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment. Fluency in the English language and the ability to see, speak, hear, read, and write are required. The ability to travel by all means of transportation and to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business needs is required. This position must also be able to interact with customers, internal and external, and adjust to a high volume, fast-paced environment.

This position will be required to respond to urgent ticket items after normal business hours.
