Eaton is currently seeking a Problem Solving Manager to join our team in Beachwood, OH or Southfield, MI. The position will be responsible to drive and improve organization performance starting from the focus plants and plants with High Severity Quality Escapes across Eaton. In addition, this position is responsible for the overall deployment of the Problem-Solving Culture (Problem Solving Kaizens, Six Sigma, and Red X) including development of the ELSS OpA criteria, and development and education of Problem Solving / Six Sigma/RedX trainers and Mentors. Position Overview: Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Continuous Improvement, the Problem Solving Manager will be responsible for developing, deploying, and executing the enterprise wide problem Solving/ Six Sigma strategy, build enterprise wide problem-solving skills/capabilities and drive problem solving culture as part of ELSS maturity. The Problem Solving Manager will partner with business leaders on deploying the strategy throughout the organization. This individual will act as a Problem Solving Sensei (Subject Matter Expert) to CI, Manufacturing, and Quality organization throughout Eaton. In this role you will: Partner and influence business Operations CI director / Master Black Belts/CI Managers to institutionalize a model for executing the Problem Solving / Six Sigma strategy Identify organization wide need of Six Sigma and Red X experts, develop skill assessment to establish the baseline and drive this development with annual strategy. Lead the global Six Sigma Committee, driving the strategy, execution and achieving organization Problem Solving goal. Benchmark with other Six Sigma leader companies and partners to identify best practices to be implemented across Eaton. Work closely with business leaders to identify the root cause/issues/challenges of Focus Plant, develop strategy, and initiate focused drive to improve Quality and productivity. Develop problem solving execution plan for Focus plants. Conduct cadence of reviews and drive improvements Collaborate with other Master Black Belts/Black Belts/CI Directors/Experts and develop/modify training materials Educate and direct the education of Eaton Problem Solving / Six Sigma professionals as well as other Eaton executives, senior leaders and managers in the specifics of Problem Solving / Six Sigma, focusing on DMAIC principles. This individual will serve and act as a “Sensei” to other Problem Solving / Six Sigma professionals. Support development of ELSS-Self Assessment Criteria for Six Sigma and Problem Solving Kaizen tool categories. Directly support the educational activities and initiatives of ELSS such as plant manager training, executive leadership training, Strategy Deployment, Variation Reduction Kaizens (VRKs), Problem Solving Kaizens, and others. Create, develop, and deploy Problem Solving / Six Sigma learning/training strategy for Managers of People (MOPs), including techniques for sharing the Six Sigma vision and ensuring all MOPs are familiar with Problem Solving / Six Sigma methodology and principles. Identify flexible yet impactful solutions for Eaton’s global workforce. Regularly review and enhance Problem Solving / Six Sigma training courses delivered to employees, managers, senior leaders and executives to ensure training content quality, accuracy, currency, and effectiveness. Serves as functional expert for all entry-level problem-solving tools (i.e., A3, 8D, 5 Whys, And etc.) Establish the foundation of the Red X program, to complement the Eaton Problem Solving process, supporting Engineering and Operations demands. This program should encompass training and education, candidates, and project selection, mentoring and certification support. The responsibility also includes the companywide relationship with SHAININ (methodology owner), which covers contract administration, overall training schedule and control, mentoring support and others. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution 10 years of experience leading manufacturing operations on a global scale and/or Continuous improvement or Six sigma program Certified and active six sigma black belt by SBTI or a similar recognized organization Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from accredited institution Strong knowledge of manufacturing process and Six sigma experience in multiple different manufacturing environment Red x apprentice Six sigma master black belt Position Criteria Demonstrated track record of success in areas of Lean and Six Sigma, with an emphasis on Problem Solving Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor others in the Problem Solving and methodology Has strong manufacturing process knowledge and hands-on problem-solving experience in multiple scenarios. Excellent Instructor and influence skills Excellent communication and influencing skills to enable visible and collaborative leadership Ability to lead effectively and drive alignment across a complex global matrixed environment Flexibility and resilience, poise under pressure, adapting plans to changing circumstances while maintaining strength and resolve Effectively collaborates on major initiatives across the enterprise. Partners extremely well, readily shares best practices and knowledge.
