Transfer Station Chemist
Blueprint Recruitment Solutions are currently looking for a Transfer Station Chemist to join our client's team over in Walsall.
Our client is the UK's leader in resource management, providing a range of water, waste and energy management services to protect the environment and focus on reducing carbon. An amazing opportunity to understand the industry and receive training and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Minimum HNC in a relevant science subject.
- Be able to demonstrate previous laboratory/analytical experience.
- An understanding of COSHH.
- Excellent communication, planning and organisation skills.
- Be a good team player.
Key Responsibilities and experience necessary for this role are:
- To assist in the operation and management of the transfer operations at Walsall including, but not limited to, drums, containers and dry waste.
- Ensuring that deviations against the acceptance criteria are promptly notified to the appropriate Company personnel.
- To ensure that all materials, including containerised materials entering the site for storage or transfer be inspected, recorded and monitored through to final dispatch in accordance with site procedures and the working plan/PPC permit; to include the routine analysis and fingerprint identification of drummed and packaged waste
- To provide cover for the site laboratory in the receipt of wastes and the sampling /monitoring of oil recovery and water treatment processes on site.
- To direct site personnel in the movement & storage requirements thereby ensuring compliance with site and HSE regulations on the storage of hazardous materials.
- To liaise with the Transfer Supervisor and Business Manager regarding the stock levels on site, inputs to the site and dispatches from the site.
- To sample and analyse all materials destined for on-site treatment performing compatibility testing and the generation of written instructions for site personnel.
- To cooperate with site management in ensuring that site personnel, contractors and visitors comply with the site rules.
- To perform daily inspections of the transfer area, highlight (and where appropriate remedy) and report potential breaches of permit or safe working conditions.
- To liaise with the Marine collections team to ensure waste enters site in accordance with applicable procedures.
