The role:

You as an Engineering Manager will be responsible for the leadership of one or more engineering scrum teams to plan, deliver and support service features that deliver customer value and/or mature service capability.

The role and Day to day will include:

Leading, Coaching & mentoring of team to uplift skills and knowledge to perform their role
Engage in hands-on development to balance workload or address significant complexity through technical Proof of Concepts, build, test including non-functional areas like security, reliability and performance
Detail the technology roadmap
Triage new demand and ensures enough technology guidance exists at high level to initiate work and lead design activities.
Ensure that technical designs meet functional, resilience, throughput, security, reuse and simplicity needs.
Maintain an understanding of ‘Best practice’ initiatives within own specialist area, and IT in general by continually seeking out relevant industry and technical knowledge. Improve on professional skills by completing necessary development activities

What you will bring:

Demonstrated experience of Technology Experience with skills in software delivery such as CI/CD, Automated Deployments, Automated Testing, Build Servers, Software / Source Code Configuration Management
Excellent documentation and communication skills with the ability to deal with stakeholders (engineers, users and product owners)
Setting standards / approaches for Engineering teams to follow, together with a ‘hands on’ approach when required
Strong focus on CI/CD Strong commitment to quality and auditability
Knowledge of core AWS data services such as: S3, RDS, Redshift, Glue, EMR, Kinesis.
5+ years of technical leadership and leading teams with:
Extensive experience across Cloud Engineering
designing and supporting API enabled cloud applications
designing and building maintainable and scalable end to end big data features in HDFS, Kafka, Apache Spark, Hive, EMR, Airflow and Python or other similar tools.
