Director, Global Sustainability

The Director of Global Sustainability coordinates and manages (as applicable) the sustainability team(s) of the relevant Sustainability Center(s) for the activities in their region. Maintains expertise on sustainability subjects and provides support to the Vice President of Sustainability in developing and promoting sustainability-related services.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate information distribution on sustainability issues internally and externally.
- Develops and giving presentations, webinars, lectures, etc.,
- Arranges environmental workshops and summits,
- Works with Corporate Technology to develop environmental advisories, and
- Partners with the Marketing & Communication department in the preparation of promotional material.
- Interacts directly with clients to develop and manage projects.
- Supports Engineering and Survey on new regulatory requirements.
- Supports clients on sustainability matters.
- Develops new or expanded sustainability services for clients.
- Participates in Industry groups working on sustainability issues.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in business management or a technical engineering field.
- Non-degreed professionals may be considered depending on their level of experience and business requirements.
- MBA or engineering postgraduate degree is preferred.
- Typically requires ten or more years of experience in the assigned area of responsibility or market sector.
- International experience, either as an expatriate or working with international projects and teams, is required.
- Experience in business development or sales in a technical and diverse product environment is preferred.
- Experience in shipping finance and chartering operations would be an asset.
- Experience with Venture Capital and entrepreneurship would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A broad knowledge of engineering and survey concepts and basic marine terminology, particularly as addressed by international conventions and codes about environmental and energy efficiency issues.
- A general knowledge of the process by which international maritime regulations are promulgated.
- A general knowledge of the process of the IACS organization, Charter, and Procedures.
- Technical writing and communications skills.
- General knowledge and operation of personal computer word processing and database systems.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
