IT Network Infrastructure Engineer - Glasgow
£32,000 - £36,000 + perm benefits
A leading educational institute based in Glasgow is currently recruiting for an IT Network Infrastructure Engineer to join the IT department who is responsible for the provision of all IT services including managing and developing the technical infrastructure, procuring IT systems and services and ensuring that IT users are provided with appropriate support. The successful candidate will have a breadth of technical skills primarily around networking and infrastructure estates. This is a fantastic job opportunity for a strong IT Network Infrastructure Engineer who can make the role their own alongside bring design and architectural knowledge to the team.
The post holder will be responsible for:-
*Designing, deploying and supporting GSA networks, technical infrastructure and IT systems and services, as directed by the Network & Infrastructure Manager.
*Configure switching, routing, wireless, firewalls and security infrastructure, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, VoIP, HCI, SAN/DAS data storage and hypervisor infrastructure, in accordance with best practices and meeting GSA standards.
*Develop and support on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure and services, including GSA's Office 365 suite of applications such as Exchange Online, One Drive for Business, Microsoft Intune and Teams.
*Create and maintain suitable documentation including technical options appraisals, business cases, technical specifications, implementation guides, diagrams, procedures, and support guides, and provide technical briefing sessions to IT staff at all levels, as required.
*Provide advanced technical support and expertise to the IT Support team and be a problem escalation route to resolve issues relating to the networks, technical infrastructure and IT systems.
*Effectively engage with third parties for example technical business partners, supply chain partners and colleagues in the sector, to deliver technical solutions in accordance with agreed standards.
Knowledge of IT services, network, infrastructure and systems issues, change management and project implementation.
*At least five years' experience working in a relevant network infrastructure engineering or systems role, including core technologies such as:
*Server Operating Systems - Windows and Linux
*Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Certificate Services
*Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Sync
*Office 365 Suite
*Microsoft Server Applications (MSSQL Server, Exchange, WSUS, WDS)
*Authentication (Cisco ISE, LDAPS, Kerberos, RADIUS, 802.1X, SAML)
*VMware ESXi 5.5+
