Group Digital Payments Product Owner


Resulting from MOL Group’s 2030 - Enter Tomorrow strategy, the Consumer Services business was separated from Downstream and developed its own, very ambitious business unit strategy for Retail and Mobility. As part of this strategy, digital transformation of Retail has started, the scope of which includes for the development of Digital Data & AI, Digital CRM & Loyalty and Digital Payments platforms.  Members of the Digital Payments team are responsible for the strategy, development, delivery and performance monitoring of the Digital Payments’ services and underlying platforms. 

The Group Digital Payments Product Owner is accountable for the analysis, assessment and development of the Group Consumer Services’ proximity payment ecosystem delivering connected product, service and interface capabilities and their underlying platforms for the physical space in alignment with the Digital Strategy across Group Consumer Services -  responsible for all aspects of project delivery and performance monitoring. 


  • Develop, own, and execute the product roadmap in sync with Tribe and Digital Factory strategy and roadmap
  • Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria
  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog - in alignment with parallel teams, in terms of content & priorities (importance, ranking, distribution) and prioritize the needs for incremental deliveries to ensure timely delivery
  • Act as the budget owner of product developments and/or align with vendors to effectively balance resource needs and budget effects
  • Drive delivery and coordinate and evaluate relevant vendors throughout the product development
  • Define how to measure progress and impact (KPIs) and monitor results (analytics based) of owned products
  • Define improvement initiatives based on results of continuous measurement and user feedback and user testing activities, build an actionable customer feedback loop
  • If applicable, manage and oversee group level business operation in cooperation with involved and supporting functions in the wider organization and vendors for products owned
  • Anticipate needs, industry and global trends, and cover shifting business requirements; be ready to accommodate the occasional moving target - facilitate MVP approach and run pilots if necessary
  • Be an internal advocate for the Digital Future of MOL (act as an influencer in for example applying design thinking, data driven decision making, etc.)
  • Coordinate and evaluate the work of the intern on the team if applicable


  • Degree in Marketing, Economics or Technology
  • Minimum 3-year experience with digital, retail or payment products or services, preferably in product owner / manager role
  • Retail, Digital Care or IoT domain knowledge
  • Understanding of proximity and remote payment solutions (logical architecture, industry players, data and money flows) and in-store digital commerce solutions (e.g. screens, digital-to-physical services, connected sensors, etc.) as well as adjacent marketing activities (campaign management, targeting, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of underlying technologies (i.e. IoT, machine learning, master data, big data, CRM, etc.), trends and legal environment
  • Understanding the fundamentals of API based architectures, knowledge of in-store measurement (feedback & sensor based) including analytics platforms (GA, Firebase, Adobe, etc.) 

  • Product management, detailed business requirement formulation, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, managing multiple tasks in parallel and lead multi-cultural product and development teams across borders
  • Digital native or ‘technogeek’ tendencies, proactive mindset, positive attitude and a strong sense of ownership and team mentality 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are also important
  • Advanced usage of Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in English and one of the Central Eastern European languages

  • Applied use of design thinking or customer oriented deliveries is a plus
  • Familiarity with prototyping and journey mapping tools (e.g. Figma, Axure, InVision, Visio, etc.) is a plus
  • Hands on experience with customer feedback based user journey mapping (physical and digital) is a plus
