Full Time / Part Time: Full Time

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Business Unit: Water Transfer
Reports to: Operations Manager

Travel Requirement: Yes


Select’s Shop Foreman will run the shop in an orderly fashion while maintaining a clean and safe environment. They will be responsible to ensure all of the Shop Technicians understand and are competent in their respective assignments.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Supervise and coordinate all Shop Technicians.
  • Keep shop in good working order.
  • Order all shop supplies.
  • Assist and train Shop Technicians.
  • Write purchase orders for shop supplies.
  • Replace damaged rental and shop equipment.
  • Conduct safety meetings.
  • Meet with other company representatives to find the best products and supplies.
  • Complete work orders.
  • Understand and operate the computer system efficiently.
  • Assign Shop Technicians to assist Rental Technicians with jobs as required.
  • Transfer equipment to other locations.
  • Call companies to pick up shop waste.
  • Call contractors for repair problems.
  • Complete monthly truck reports.
  • Work weekend back-up shift to assist Shop Technicians when required.
  • Keep a record and day planner of ongoing jobs.
  • Conduct weekly operation meeting with Shop Technicians for questions, concerns and supplies.
  • Preventative maintenance on company vehicles (get oil changes, tire rotations and send for repairs).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • 3-4 years of oil & gas / rig experience.
  • Must have State Inspection License.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • 2-3 years management experience leading shop employees.
  • 2-3 years in a shop environment.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to identify dangerous conditions and act accordingly.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, repair, and electrical diagnosis.
  • Heavy equipment repair and inventory.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Able interact and perform successfully within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism.
  • Demonstrate initiative to learn and develop new skills.

Physical Demands and Exposures

  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
