The Energy & Environment (E&E) division is made up of 6 brands - Ends, Wind Power Monthly, Horticultural Week, Planning, DCS & WINWAN. The Energy & Environment group is a key division within Haymarket Business Media.
The brands reach more than 250k global visitors online per month, in addition to delivering a portfolio of international awards and conferences and a suite of intelligence products.
The Paid Content Director will work closely with HBM’s Chief Commercial Officer to co-ordinate the overall strategy for the division with a strong focus on driving paid content growth across all brands. Working with the content and commercial teams, the Paid Content Director will also ensure the brand plans are consistent with HBM’s overarching strategy and their targets and plans are set in line with HBM’s overall Fit for the Future goals.
The role is responsible for achieving the group’s annual P&L targets and is the line manager for the group’s editorial and sales teams who deliver the individual brand plans, audience targets and commercial goals.
The Paid Content Director also manages the overall relationship between the portfolio and other central functions – including technology, data, marketing, and management accounts – where that relationship requires divisional-level input and responsibilities.
The role unites sales, editorial, events teams, Content Labs, marketing, analytics and product management behind the vision for the Energy & Environment division, which is to drive revenue and margin growth across paid content, live events, and high-growth commercial lines such as content solutions.
A key focus for the role is to accelerate paid content revenue across the brands in the division Paid content across the group currently makes up 75% of total revenue. The Paid Content Director will be accountable for growing this to 82% over the next two years, in line with overall group growth.
To increase materially the size of the Energy and Environment division by scaling up revenues, the quality of audience and their engagement, total contribution and improving overall margin. Increase profitability/maximise profits on the existing six brands through revenue growth targets set in conjunction with the Chief Commercial Officer -- particularly in paid content as well as live events and advertising revenues. Line manage Editors, Brand and Commercial leads to devise content and product strategies that increase audience value - quality, engagement, data and lead generation. Work closely with the E&E central teams – marketing, events, product and other commercial teams - paid content, recruitment and content labs - in order to meet objectives around growth and cost control. To realise new product developments across our core brands that support business growth targets. To realise large-scale investments, acquisitions and developments in order to expand the portfolio beyond core audiences. Accelerate paid content growth - with a particular focus on driving high-value data and intelligence revenues across all relevant brands in the division inline with overall group growth.
