If you are a Engineering student looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, Ohio location, you will create FDM Thermoplastic and BMD metal 3D printed parts for product R&D and tooling for manufacturing operations. You will contribute to all aspects of the process including preparing files in advanced software, processing builds, operating machines, maintaining machines, and validation of printed parts with 3D scanning and software. You will work closely with internal customers to identify requirements and develop a processing plan. You will provide first-hand feedback on part design and contribute to redesign of 3D Models to take advantage of Additive Manufacturing capabilities. You will document best practices for part design and machine operations. AS AN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING CO-OP, YOU WILL:
Optimize CAD Model Designs For 3D Printing Using Advanced Software (NX CAD and CAE)
Program 3D CAD Models For FDM Thermoplastic and BMD Metal Machines Using Specialized Software
Process 3D Printing Jobs
Perform Basic 3D Printer Machine Maintenance and Repairs
Perform Post Process Finishing Of 3D Printed Parts
Perform Material Changeovers On 3D Printers
Support Product Design Engineers With Design For Additive
Perform 3D Scanning On 3D Prints And Compare To Theoretical Model For Validation And Optimization
Define, Develop, Optimize, And Document Process Development Processes And Machine Parameter

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Additive Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Passion For Additive Manufacturing Including Hands-On Operation
- 3D CAD Modeling Software Experience (Siemens NX preferred)
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Above Average Communication Skills
- Multitasking Skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be available
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Additive Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Sophomore or higher class status
- Additve Manufacturing Machine Operation Experience

About our Location
The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions. With the blend of businesses and functions represented under this one roof, there are many opportunities for advancement within the Sidney location.
