A Materials Manager is required for a minimum 6 month hybrid working ontract for our leading defence client BAE Systems in Portsmouth.
The Materials Manager will have extensive knowledge of Project Management gained through experience amd be a manager of qualified professional employees typically running a small to medium-sized project or a work package within a larger project.
The Materials Manager:
Is responsible for the Initial Provision Spares/Support & Test Equipment budget of £81M as it is progressively firmed up via a contractual
tasking process. Is also responsible for the timely delivery and acceptance of procured items agreed with MoD against each task.
Identifies and influences stakeholders on whom performance depends, in order to achieve the outcomes required for each task.
Establishes and operates the required Project Management procedures.
Adapts own project plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
Project Management of activities with a significant procured element involving RFQs, orders, acceptance and payments
Experience in estimating and preparation of bids for submission to MoD of £5M or greater.
Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management (tools, techniques, practices).
Able to resolve project-related problems that do not have routine solutions, but the norm is to follow established procedures.
Good understanding of the Business environment for own project and team.
Recognised as a Project Management practitioner.
Stakeholder management, particularly negotiation and influencing, ideally in an MoD or government environment
Multi-tasking, organisation and attention to detail
Good appreciation of procurement considerations, such as single source regulations, INCOTERMS, export control, packaging and DEFCONs
