We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for an Application Engineer. The Application Engineer will serve as a key technical member of the cross-functional TAE Power Management team, with the mission to create the best power electronics and battery systems for mobility and stationary applications, including the power supplies and energy storage systems for our fusion experiments. You will work at the intersection between Engineering, Product Development and Business teams. Scope of work will include electrical, mechanical, and software elements and translating these into creative solutions to provide the best product to our customers. The Application Engineer will support multiple programs as needed and operate as a single point contact for Project Leaders. This is a full-time position with rich comp package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical contact for customers to articulate how TAE Power Management’s technology would be deployed in various applications.
  • Define application specific component requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering design, development, and management teams to provide product design feedback and improvements.
  • Evaluate applications for EV powertrain and stationary Energy Storage Systems (electrical, mechanical, cooling and compliance).
  • Develop process documentation to support product evaluation and deployments.
  • Develop plans & coordinate the execution of project deliverables.
  • Validate user experience, new features, and third party product integrations.
  • Manage integration and product pilots in person and/or remotely.
  • Research, define, and disseminate requirements from the market, while coordinating with business team members.
  • Develop best practices for evaluating, managing and mitigating risks associated with EV powertrain and ESS designs.
  • Track new and emerging energy storage technologies to ensure TAE Power Management provides the most appropriate and cost-effective solutions for our customers.

 

Required Skills:

  • 2 - 5 year’s prior engineering experience.
  • Project management and organization experience.
  • Understanding of power systems, EV technology, electrical, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals mechanical, electrical, and thermal.
  • Knowledge of UL, NEC, IEC for energy storage systems preferred.
  • Experience with FEA, CFD and CAD software/firmware deployments.
  • Knowledge of battery pack architecture and traction inverter technology.

Education:

  • MS/PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
