Process Coordinator - Central Crane Repair, MEU
Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Process Coordinator - Central Crane Repair at our Burns Harbor, Indiana operation. The Process Coordinator will be responsible for all required safety programs, annual crane inspections & repairs, downturn maintenance on cranes and shop rebuilds. The candidate will work with the Central Crane Repair Process Manager and all department leaders and planners to make sure their cranes and overhead doors are reliable and safe. We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package and unlimited career advancement opportunities
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and execute the MEU Department Safety Program and keep it on track
  •  Available to work 24/7 when required
  • Lead the BU in safe and accountable work ethics. Attend safety meetings, shop safety inspections and audits
  •  Lead and supervise the effort for effective and timely repairs to overhead doors and cranes
  • Provide manpower and technical resources to assist the assigned maintenance groups
  • Interact with assigned maintenance groups to facilitate the annual crane inspections and repairs in a timely manner
  •  Perform autopsies on all failed crane components and use the info to drive the continuous improvement program
  • Recognize problem trends early and direct corrective actions
  • Supervise and be responsible for all Central Crane repair activities
  • Manage the business unit related to quality, cost, and safety
  • Work with the process manager & planner to schedule the work force
  • Monitor quality and effectiveness of performance
  • Build teamwork between management and the workforce
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in the shop and on the job
  • Responsible for maintenance of department property, equipment, tools, and supplies
  • Give precise and accurate reports to upper management
  • Consider possible Environment violations and take steps to avoid them
  •  Conduct daily pre-shift safety meetings
  • Plan work, coordinate projects and mill outages with customers
  • Do follow ups and inspections of repair work
  • Learn and use Tabware for requisitions & work orders
  • Interact with assigned maintenance groups to facilitate the annual crane inspections and repairs in a timely manner
  • Write turn reports and maintain record.
  • Oversee crane rebuilds and order quality parts
  • Aid (fill-in) and substitute supervision as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Good computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to reach drawings and prints
  • Mechanical / electrical experience
Preferred Requirements 
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in an electrical or mechanical discipline a plus
  • 3-5 years experience in the repairs/maintenance of overhead cranes and doors
  • Previous supervisory experience a plus
