Job Overview :

This position has responsibility for directing, planning, and leading operations in areas of production, compliance, safety, and maintenance to ensure required business objectives and strategies for multiple plants in Bulk and Onsite (B&O) nationally are met in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. Responsibility for directing and leading operations in the Tonawanda Central Control Room and IMPAC center are also included.

Scope : This position defines priorities, plans, and objectives for manufacturing operations for multiple plants in B&O National Standard Plants in addition to the Tonawanda Central Control Room (CCR) and IMPAC. This seasoned individual has expert knowledge of principles and practices within operations, and an understanding of business strategies and culture, and works to achieve results and drive performance on a regional and national basis.

There are 2 separate positions included with this positing. The first position will have responsibility for the Linde IMPAC Center, CCR, Standard Plant support and Standard Plant operations within the East Region (122 people supporting approximately 145 plants). The second position with have responsibility for Standard Plant operations within the South, North and West Regions (90 people supporting 140 plants).

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Directs a group of employees and/or consultants to flawlessly execute operational requirements, change and/or process improvements.
  • Creates and manages complex operational plans that result in accomplishment of business objectives.
  • Directs and leads complex or unusual assignments across functional area.
  • Act as primary interface, coordinating and facilitating activities and commitments with other departments, businesses, and/or functions.
  • Ensure response strategies are appropriately formulated and communication plans are provided.
  • Establishes goals, promotes decision-making, delegates as appropriate and overcomes obstacles.
  • Takes leadership role in creation and oversight of productivity optimization, backup liquid minimization and collaborating with Logistics.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with regions in areas of CAPEX & Fixed Cost Spend, resource allocation and specific customer strategies.
  • Collaborates with Logistics to develop a outage plan in a manner that minimizes risk based upon timing, resources available and other potential supply system constraints.
  • Works with strategic independence, conferring with Senior and Executive Management on more complex or unusual assignments.
  • Monitors external/internal trends, develops procedures, makes judgments, and takes organization-wide actions that set precedents.
  • Focuses on planning and execution for current year.
  • Develops, implements, and supports strategic long-term plans for various critical initiatives including CAPEX spend, equipment obsolescence, compliance, training, reliability etc
  • Staffs, trains, coaches, and administers performance reviews, salary increases and corrective action of subordinate employees.
  • Ensures compliance to all safety policies and procedures, leads operational discipline throughout Linde employee organizations, work closely with SH&E in achieving established goals.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, federal, and Linde policies regarding environmental, permitting, and product quality requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and supports Lean Six Sigma and cost reduction projects.
  • Develops, implements, and supports critical Process Safety initiatives.
  • Manages and achieves plant and product supply reliability goals.
  • Manages and achieves plant fixed and variable cost goals, develop monthly business report covering financial performance and create action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Works with various groups to support commercialization of new facilities and renewals of existing.
  • Works across all levels of Linde organizations to achieve desired results into a cohesive and effective management team.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 10 years operations experience
  • 3 years plant management experience
  • Must possess proven leadership, team building, and decision-making skills
  • Must be reliability and efficiency focused and possess strong planning and execution skills
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse workforce to achieve desired results
  • Must be able to travel 40% of the time
