In this dynamic role, you will lead a highly motivated team to deliver effective maintenance plans to support our Mine Equipment Maintenance (MEM) business goals and objectives. Reporting to the Manager, MEM Planning & Scheduling at Base Plant in Fort McMurray, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable and cost efficient maintenance of our mining equipment.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead a group of Maintenance Planners to develop high quality maintenance plans and align maintenance resources with operations priorities
  • Support maintenance team to build and maintain planning activities, advise and measure progress
  • Collaborate to develop and manage the MEM maintenance for Shovel outages and short and long-range equipment plans
  • Support the technical team with dedication through development of work plans and schedules, aligned to scopes of work
  • Assist with the implementation of equipment strategies and maintenance program development
  • Support the development of our budget, business plan, key performance indicators (KPIs) and monthly stewardship reports
  • Provide guidance as it relates to maintenance program development
  • Develop and lead effective change management techniques, plans and related deliverables
  • Ensure proper adherence to the maintenance and reliability standards
  • Utilize metrics to drive improvements to overall Maintenance delivery

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate; attach your Journeyperson / Red Seal ticket with your application to be considered 
  • 10 or more years of dynamic experience in maintenance roles with a focus on planning and scheduling
  • Three (3) or more years of experience leading a team, Mobile Heavy Equipment experience preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • A post-secondary education
  • Strong knowledge and experience in SAP
  • Technical knowledge of best practices for planning and execution of routine maintenance, outage maintenance and turnarounds, commissioning, shutdowns / start-ups and process safety management
  • Knowledge of the mining environment would be beneficial
  • You have demonstrated analytical skills, the ability to think strategically, and a continuous improvement mindset
  • You are competent in making business decisions and core understanding of risk base decision-making and risk management
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

 Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in [ Link removed ] , Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
