Summary: Strata Solar Services is currently seeking a full-time Data Analyst to join our Performance Analytics team, which is responsible for modeling and optimizing the energy output of our operating fleet of solar power plants through performance reporting development and automation, conducting statistical analyses, and using industry research and PV system design principals to drive models.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct value-add analyses on large time-series data sets from PV and BESS systems.
  • Analyze accuracy and develop new studies to improve performance and forecasting models.
  • Design, conduct, and present the results of data-driven studies to O&M leadership, performance analytics team, and external parties.
  • Develop and maintain tools to automate data flow between data acquisition system, ticketing systems, performance models, dashboards, and final reports.
  • Create new frameworks and processes for data collection, organization, and utilization.
  • Design data visuals and written reports for audiences ranging from technical to management personnel.
  • Work with data scientists, energy analysts, and performance engineers to develop and implement machine learning algorithms to streamline performance modeling processes and capabilities.
  • Contribute to ongoing research efforts to optimize and evaluate the performance of PV and BESS systems throughout their lifetime.
  • Other duties in support of power plant performance analytics as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Must be able to begin with a problem statement and drive energy analysis projects to completion with minimal day-to-day supervision.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in data analysis, renewable energy systems, engineering, applied mathematics or related field.
  • Academic or internship experience in either quantitative modeling or renewable systems modeling preferred.
  • Experience with Python, R, or SQL preferred.
  • Familiarity with modeling expected system output for utility-scale PV projects through PVsyst, PVlib, SAM or similar is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with data management tools.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with various outside parties.
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment.  On occasion, the position may require an in-person site visit. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.
