We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for an experienced Thin Film Deposition Engineer and/or Technician. As the Thin Film Deposition Engineer/Technician, the candidate will be responsible for deposition films and maintain a vacuum deposition system. These duties also require the ability to perform routine maintenance on the deposition system, and other production and test systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team of Engineers, Physicists, and Technicians working to develop our Novel cancer treatment particle accelerator. As a valued member of our team, you will work on cutting edge equipment, involved in building, testing and maintaining current and future systems, as well as developing our manufacturing and operations lines. Successful applicants must be highly motivated, hands on creative individuals, with an attitude and desire to continuously improve. This is a full-time position with a rich compensation package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Must be familiar with Lock-out tag-out procedures of energy control systems.
  • Must comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain and organize all lab equipment and tools.
  • Proficiency in film deposition by thermal evaporation including hardware configuration, material properties and metrology methods.
  • Proficiency in chemical processing.
  • Under limited supervision, perform assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on various High Vacuum systems.
  • Work with hazardous materials and gasses on various R&D operational systems.
  • Assembly and Operations skills used in a manufacturing situation.
  • Knowledge of analytical systems (Statistical Process Control or other) in order to characterize processes and procedures.
  • Work in a clean environment and glove boxes to prepare (decontaminate), assemble, and test various systems and equipment upgrades on multiple pieces of equipment, test stands, and experimental systems.
  • Have knowledge in all types of vacuum systems and hardware. Included, but not limited to turbo, roughing, and cryogenic pumping systems.
  • Extensive knowledge in vacuum connections including O-ring seals, Swagelok tube, VCR, and Face Seal connections.
  • Must have good math skills used for diagnosing and addressing potential issues within various systems.
  • Proficient with multiple vacuum diagnostic tools. Including vacuum gauges, Residual Gas Analyzers, etc.
  • Leak checking abilities.
  • Maintain proper protocols within clean environments, and processing systems.
  • Read and interpret work orders and equipment manuals to determined required maintenance and service.
  • Maintain daily logs to characterize system conditions.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work alongside Engineers, Physicists, and Technicians.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience: at least 10 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting deposition/coating equipment.
  • Experience in chemical processing.
  • Experience with vacuum & plasma systems and with process monitoring.
  • Knowledge of deposition processes.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems and/or clean room activities.
  • Excellent mechanical skills. Including hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work safely at all times and ask for help when feeling at risk.
  • Knowledge of basic safety rules and a willingness to follow them.
  • Communication across a broad spectrum of technical and administrative co-workers.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, tracking and web-based software.
  • Excellent and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Oral, written and diagrammatic communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear concepts.
  • Creativity, innovative and attention to detail skill set.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials, and within a hazardous environment.

Education:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
