Description Job Summary: (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for managing the engineering activities necessary to design, construct, commission, start-up and test new energy storage systems, PV solar generation assets, and combined cycle power plants.

Manages and reviews the work of engineering consultants and/or EPC contractors’ engineering activities from detailed design through final implementation, and is responsible for technical leadership on one larger scale or multiple smaller scale projects. Works closely with and supports Project Construction Managers during construction through start-up, providing technical support and interfaces with both internal and external entities.

Defines project scope and objectives for consulting engineers and the engineering scope within EPC contracts. Must be familiar with the entire project(s) scope and requirements, and serve as liaison between project team members, internal company resources, plant operations, and company management.

Must have a strong knowledge of MV and HV electrical system design, DC Power System design, protection and control system design, and electrical equipment and components found in electrical generating and storage assets required to evaluate, review, and approve third party engineers’ designs. Ensures adherence to design standards, codes, and best practices, and reviews project deliverables.

Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Responsibilities may include coordinating contracts, supply chain, EH&S, and technical relations with electric utilities, permitting agencies, etc. May identify, evaluate and hire outside engineering and other technical consultants as needed throughout the implementation of the project, and coordinate with internal technical groups.

May perform some engineering tasks and calculations required to support the project. May coordinate the engineering and contract groups associated with assigned project.

• Oversees engineering and technical activities on one or multiple projects.
• Makes recommendations on moderately complex issues regarding project components and tasks.
• May make recommendations on new processes, tools and services; supports and contributes to development of new products, services or techniques.
• Works on problems of diverse scope ranging from moderate to complex.
• Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Collaborates with senior professionals in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach
• Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
• Serves as technical lead on projects; may coordinate work of professionals, technicians and others outside of own department.
• Resource integrator – builds professional networks and identifies and connects resources to achieve goals. Regularly contributes actionable ideas in brainstorming and planning sessions. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Requires 5+ years’ electrical engineering design experience, including MV and HV system design, protection and control system design, specifying MV and HV equipment, supporting plant operations and troubleshooting equipment.
• Direct field experience including supporting or leading construction, commissioning, and startup activities preferred.
• Experience supervising subordinate engineers and/or oversite of engineering consultants, interfacing with electric utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with electrical system analysis software such as ETAP, project management tools preferred.
• Professional engineering license preferred.
