The Role

Purpose

  • The primary role will be to support the business performance management for the Business specific to Retail Malaysia market which may include reporting, analysis & analytics activities.
  • The Business Analyst will report to and support the Business Finance Advisor. The role will be based in a pre-determined Finance Operations Centre.
  • The individual will be a part of an impactful “connected” team, working with the Business Finance Advisor, Business Interface Manager, Finance in the Business and senior business contacts to address scenarios and specific business challenges.
  • The Business Analyst will provide analysis to challenge the status quo, data analytics and business insights, working collaboratively as an equal to influence the value drivers for that business and to support decision making. The role holder will have strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence senior Business and Finance professionals across the organization.
  • They will sit on appropriate leadership teams in Finance and the relevant business, although it will be much more than “talking to the business” or having “a seat at the table” as their GPA will be aligned with the operational goals of the business that they work with.

The Business Analyst GPA will be aligned with the operational goals of the business they support, as well as the Finance Operations R&A goals. They will be an integral part of the appropriate Finance team to translate the Business agenda into the Finance Operations R&A context.

Accountabilities: -

The Candidate is accountable to manage the Financial Management Information & Analysis activities for Retail Malaysia. This includes R&A deliverables, regional initiatives, collaborative skills & leading by example in terms of key company values e.g. 5 behavioral imperatives, HSSE, D&I and cost leadership.

Management Information, Planning and Analysis:

  • Financial Assurance including supporting to the Month Close activities and ensuring First Time Right (FTR).
  • Balance Sheet analysis and Cash Flow reporting
  • Providing Flash commentaries and analysis of business performance ensuring first quartile quality standards including understanding Business levers, Budgeting (Targets & Resources), Cost Leadership and Latest Estimates accuracy
  • Demand Management of MI including competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a high quality and integrity of deliverables.
    * Drive development/design of new MI and finance support processes
    * Continuous focus on improvement opportunities (ESSA) in process and content and identifies and actions opportunities to reduce complexity, promote best practice and provide focus on financial issues. Support resolution of the issues/bottlenecks in the reporting process.
  • Initiate and implement innovative approaches to data analysis and reporting to ensure sufficient capacity and flexibility exist to meet demand from DS CoB Business Partners.
  • Support Price risk management activities

Stakeholder management

  • Proactively manages relationships with the DS CoB Business Partners
  • Primary contact for R&A
  • Keeps abreast of Business developments and Business performance drivers.
  • Conduct sessions with stakeholders in finance & sales organizations and emphasize the landscape of existing MI.

Skills and requirements: -
Qualified Accountant (CA/ICWA/CIMA/ACCA/MBA) with 5 to 8 years of post-qualification and having at least 2 years of relevant experience in Business Performance Management & Business Partnering.
*Experience of understanding the ERP systems especially GSAP R3, BW and GPMR is preferred
*Experience in business intelligence tools like Spotfire, BI4, etc. is preferred
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
*Experience of working in a virtual environment is preferred
*Good communication skills with the proven ability to effectively challenge senior management
*Pro-active approach and the ability to identify and support resolving First Time right issues (e.g.: accounting & reporting issues, MRD issues) in a dynamic environment.
