Field Service Engineer

Join us as a Field Service Engineer, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Camden, NJ.

Providing technical support to the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Department by analyzing component failures, determining root cause analysis for LRV equipment failure, and developing improvements to existing equipment designs to increase LRV on time performance and to minimize unscheduled down time for the River Line Fleet.

Support Manager of Quality Assurance, Project Manager, Superintendents of Maintenance, and the Lead Field Service Engineer with process improvements and revisions, failure analysis, component and vehicle overhauls, and nonconforming parts dispositions.

Manage the life cycle of specific equipment. This includes development and management of specific overhaul programs.

Support the contract administration department in forecasting costs for LRV component overhauls and component replacement, preparing specification for new components or approving alternate components from OEM and Non-OEM suppliers.

Act as technical support for the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and staff by providing troubleshooting assistance and technical analysis.

Assist the Purchasing and Storeroom departments with parts procurement, technical knowledge in contract negotiations and inspection of critical parts.  Prepare Temporary and Permanent Change

Authorizations by developing the necessary documents and drawings. Prepare updates to equipment manuals and other controlled documents as changes progress and are implemented

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent.  Associates degree in same area or combined with related experience may be considered.  

Knowledge of the Business

Preferred qualification: Mechanical Engineering. 1 to 3 years of engineering or technical experience. Operations and Maintenance experience is a plus.   

Leadership – Management or Technical

Demonstrated prior success in leadership of people a plus.

Problem Solving

Demonstrated ability to identify, address, and resolve problems, both technical and situational as they arise. 

Area & Nature of Impact

Local site and occasional division wide; technical, procedural, and safety impact.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

Demonstrated ability to understand and coordinate complex technical issues using various methods including data analysis.

Additional information and elements to consider

Occasionally assigned technical tasks not directly related to system operations and maintenance.  May also be responsible for the sourcing of new products and interacting with vendors on technical issues.
