Job Description Summary:  Green Plains is growing their Ethanol Trade Desk and with that their necessary support and analytics. As part of the Ethanol Trade Team, the Ethanol Analyst will support the team’s efforts across all categories including analysis, trade/supply, strategy, financial modeling and overall risk management. The Ethanol Analyst will play a critical role not only within the Ethanol Trade Desk abut also across the enterprise to provide financial analysis support and market communication, having access to a variety of departments including Logistics, Accounting, Risk, Credit and Senior Management. The Ethanol Analyst will report directly to the Vice President of Ethanol and will be an integral part of the overall Ethanol Trade Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Ethanol Trade Team through market & policy analysis, trade & market write-ups, presentations and potentially managing customer relationships, including but not solely limited to both trade & supply
  • Must be comfortable with the ability to take market risk in the event the Ethanol Analyst manages customer or a trade book
  • Maintaining and developing supply & demand forecasts, trends and market-related opinions
  • Understanding the competitive and ever-evolving biofuel market landscape and how these changes impact the organization
  • Performing additional responsibilities as needed and required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related field or relevant work experience
  • 3+ years in a commodity analysis/trading/trading support role or similar work experience
  • Relatively fluent in data collection and management, specifically in regards to Microsoft Excel
  • Prior experience running, managing or tabulating a P&L is a plus 
  • Proven analytical, quantitative and modeling skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – preparing reports to communicate key market data, risk exposures and financial information
  • Programming experience is a plus
  • Experience in agricultural or energy markets preferred
