Business Unit: Disposals

Reports to: Director – Disposal Solutions

Travel Requirement: Yes


The Project Engineer will perform engineering design and review of pipelines, risers, swd facilities and associated facilities, including new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing swd tank facilities and pipeline.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Assignments will vary depending on the nature of projects received from clients.
  • Perform sizing and design calculations for pipelines, tank batteries, risers and associated equipment.
  • Must be familiar with pipeline construction and swd tank batteries.
  • Prepare and/or review cost estimates for pipeline and swd tank batteries construction and assist with procurement activities.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure an integrated design that meets the project requirements.
  • Provide regulatory needs for projects as needed,
  • Provide construction oversight.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience is required (preferably oil and gas experience with engineering and design management experience).
  • Plus experience includes downhole workovers, plugging and abandonment and environmental cleanup.
  • Must have familiarity with all engineering and design requirements for projects, including client provided specifications and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and a “self-starter”.
  • Ability to motivate individuals from different organizations to focus on achieving a common goal.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate a company vehicle on and off road.
  • Must be willing to travel to remote locations and spend considerable time at field locations as required.
  • Exhibit ability to be a strong team player.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select’s insurance guidelines.
  • Must possess basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office.

  • Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment.
  • Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy area.
  • Position works inside a climate-controlled environment a majority of the time.
  • Must be willing to travel to remote locations and spend considerable time at field locations as required.
  • Requires working outdoors, subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Work hours will frequently vary.
  • Overtime is required.
