If you are a Senior Lead Systems Engineer looking for a new opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, OH location. The Lead / Senior Lead Systems Engineer reports to the Vice President of Research and is responsible for applying his/her knowledge and expertise to find innovative system solutions to ensure human comfort and health, protect food quality, advance energy efficiency and environmental conservation, and create a sustainable energy infrastructure.

AS A LEAD/SENIOR LEAD HVACR SYSTEMS ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 

  • Conceive and develop innovative system solutions and control strategies to meet project goals and objectives
  • Perform appropriate analytical and experimental studies to identify preferred embodiments and to characterize their behavior and performance
  • Develop and manage multi-year technology strategies and roadmaps to ensure state-of-the-art system simulation and testing capability
  • Manage system test facilities
  • Develop and execute realistic project plans to achieve goals and objectives per defined program schedules
  • Prepare reports, presentations, papers, etc. to describe project status and summarize project results
  • Keep abreast of new technology and effectively integrate new subject matter into the current operation to improve overall performance and support the development innovative solutions
  • Help to identify and implement new tools and methods to drive continuous improvement in innovation and project execution

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • MS degree in Engineering plus 7 years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated experience with modeling and simulation of HVAC&R systems

  • Demonstrated experience with modeling, development, and testing of system controls

  • Demonstrated experience with system fault detection and diagnostics

  • Computational skills with proficiency with tools such as MATLAB, SIMULINK, VB, C Programing, Python

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply creative thinking to complex and ambiguous problems

  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to meet project goals, objectives, and schedules

  • Ability to work with both internal and external technical teams and with both collocated and non-collocated teams

  • Team oriented individual with strong communication and presentation skills. 

  • Self-starter who can initiate action and follow-through with well-defined solutions and action plans.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • PHD

  • Knowledge and experience with integrated solutions and building simulation such as with Energy

  • Knowledge and experience with advanced controls and data analytics such as model predictive control and machine learning

  • Knowledge of and experience with innovation tools and methods.
