Element has an opportunity for a Chemistry Technician for testing, sample preparation and delivery/collection of samples and preparation of test reports.



Responsibilities

  • Operation of equipment like ICP, Salt Spray, Leco C/S, XRF, FTIR
  • Prepare the reagents, standard solution and ensure standardization of the solution used in the laboratory
  • Perform titrations and report tank analysis as required.
  • Perform sample preparation and metallurgical evaluations as required
  • Performance of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests and analysis of other substances as per standard method
  • Perform sample preparation and metallurgical evaluations as required
  • Generating test reports for clients (data entry, quality assurance)
  • Handling and storage all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Working to all HSE standards
  • Ensure equipment used is calibrated and verify the calibration before use
  • Managing the calibration of glass wares and the instruments
  • General maintenance, cleaning and checking of equipment
  • Ensuring compliance to all Element Material Technology quality standards, customer requirements, and accreditation requirements.
  • Driving to customer site to collect samples and / or conduct testing in their lab on a regular / daily basis
  • Monitor consumable supplies and keep inventory of supplies at recommended levels.
  • Participate in continuous improvement inititatives including 5S of the area.
  • Coordinating with the other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule
  • Willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manage


Skills / Qualifications

  • Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar role
  • Have the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary
  • Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
  • Good maths skills
  • Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory
  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Excel) and general computer use of internet
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
  • Organization, critical thinking and problem solving skills, Decision making, and adaptability
  • Experience with material and process selection
  • Utilize safe work practices when using potentially dangerous materials (corrosives, flammables, poisons, and organic based solvents)
