Your mission:

Within Central Engineering, in the Train Design Department, we are looking for one Mechanical Lead Engineer for General Studies Domain (MLE GS)

Purpose of the Job

  • Managing General Studies resources, activities and deliverables on projects and tenders in compliance with QCD commitments.

  • Applying applicable Mechanical Domain instructions, processes & tools.

Organisation Reporting

  • Hierarchical Reporting: (Site) General Studies Domain Leader (GSDL)

  • Functional Reporting: Train Design Engineer (TDE)

Responsible for :  

  • Performing and managing the mechanical studies to define the main architecture of the train. It includes: Gauge calculation, weight balance, displacement of the car through the railway, train layouts and passengers access.

  • Defining and share with the Train Design Team the requirements which defines the architecture of the train, including the following tasks:

    o             clarifying requirements,

    o             synthetizing requirements,

    o             analysing & developing requirements,

    o             allocating requirements,

    o             proposing Means of Proof associated to Requirements

  • Defining with the Train Design Engineer and implement the list of installations which forms the train.

  • Managing the allocated volume and the interfaces for each installation on the 3D mock-up.

  • Managing the allocated weight for each installation.

  • Managing the preferential parts list for the projects.

  • Managing Tint & Colours data from Design and Stilling team

  • Performing project General Studies  activities in compliance with QCD commitments.

  • Planning and piloting General Studies activities and related deliverables on project taking into account applicable instructions/processes and other specific  Customer (internal or external) requirements.

  • Ensuring General Studies deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.

  • Reporting on General Studies activities progress and alerting relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.

  • Checking availability on time of work package input data and escalate if necessary.

  • Checking sub-contractor's Design Quality

  • Preparing and documenting Mechanical Domain Design Reviews according to project schedule and following-up the main open actions.

  • Resolving Project Mechanical issues and  following challenging actions (single-domain)

  • Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on General Studies scope.

  • Reporting on Mechanical Domain activities progress, anticipating issues  and alerting if needed.

  • Verifying design via mock-ups or simulations.

Contributor for :

  • Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on Project Mechanical (multi-domains)

  • Perform quotation of engineering workpackage , upon request

  • Supporting Sourcing, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams during Production ramp-up.

  • Collaborating with MDL for continuous improvement of the Domain (including Retour of Experience)

  • Defining Mechanical Domain architecture taking into account weight, gauge, installation strategy, acoustics, eco design, ergonomics, aerodynamics, aeraulics…

  • Establishing Certification & Validation Plans for TD scope.

Your profile :

  • Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with 4 to 5 years of experience.

  • Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer) in an international environment.

  • Time management and reporting skill.

  • Sense of urgency / priority.

  • Customer & Product Focus.

  • Structured and organised with Hands-on approach.

  • Knowledge of CATIA V5.

  • English operational in read/writing and technical meetings. Other languages are welcome.
