The Jacobs Built Environment is seeking a confident Structural Engineer to join the business. Based in our Brisbane team, this role will focus on supporting projects in Queensland – but brings exciting opportunities to connect to and serve our broader Jacobs buildings practice across ANZ and beyond. This role within our dynamic, collaborative and highly-skilled team offers the right candidate unbounded opportunities to grow their career – and to make an enduring impact through delivering the challenging and exciting Social Infrastructure, Transportation and Defence projects that serve and connect our communities.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical delivery of Built Environment projects within our Building Structures section in Central, West and Northern. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivery of Building Structures design projects by interfacing with GDC partners and working collaboratively with a range of disciplines
  • Provide structural engineering design skills, including providing engineering calculations, design mark ups, reports and specifications as required
  • Managing internal and external client expectations; understanding stakeholder and delivery requirements
  • Documentation control for projects
  • Delivering tasks within time and fee constraints
  • Utilising Jacobs’ internal systems and tools as required
  • Site inspections and construction phase support
  • An ability to work in a close team, sharing tasks and developing team members’ skills

  • Bachelor level degree
  • Chartered Professional Engineer
  • 3-5 years industry experience
  • Understanding of technical standards for design, construction, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of the local environment, relevant industry.
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Confidence (able to challenge when required and appropriate)
