POSITION SUMMARY
 
Air Products is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work in the Engineering Organization located in their office in Dhahran Techno Valley, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The successful candidate will be required to have a good approach to health, safety and environment and can work across multi discipline teams as well as different cultures around the world. We are looking for a candidate with good communication skills in both verbal and written English and all-round flexibility to commit time and effort to achieve project requirements.
The ability to travel when required, both to job sites and other engineering offices in the UK, US, India and China on a planned basis.
The position emphasizes teamwork, communications, organization, change management, work process optimization, planning, leadership, and hands-on technical skills with comprehensive knowledge across other engineering disciplines. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
 
  • Lead in the provision of engineering evaluation & determinations, issue technical direction & guidance, and oversee inspection & quality assurance initiatives for all Electrical systems & equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, repair, and test activities.
  • Lead in the provision of engineering support & guidance during the construction & commissioning of the plants.  Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives. 
  • Lead in the development of detailed engineering specifications (including sizing calculations) for the procurement of Electrical systems components and equipment. 
  • Lead in the provision of engineering input for development and maintenance of Electrical systems & equipment standards, procedures, best practices, inspection contracts, and contractor selection guidelines.
  • Checks calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, and design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing is conform to functional specifications, recognized codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Establish & maintain compliance with all company and local regulations.
  • Employ appropriate project development and project management activities (including scope, budget, schedule, execution strategies, risk plans, cost collection / reporting, etc.) for the execution of all projects and turnaround activities. 
  • Promote an atmosphere of team spirit through good example, open communication, good listening, and timely problem resolutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, reliability, and cost of quality goals.
  • Establish & maintain relationships with regional Electrical systems & equipment suppliers
  • Foster and support positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Participate at professional association meetings to determine best practices being used in the industry and apply them to Electrical systems & equipment.
  • Support, mentor, and develop local Electrical engineers.
  • Advises Project Engineering Manager concerning design or scope changes which initiate or require an Engineering Change Order

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • The Electrical Engineer shall hold a B. Sc. Engineering Degree and minimum of 15 years’ experience in chemical / refinery / gas plant maintenance / inspection / engineering.
  • Experience in Front end Loading engineering project development
  • Have a solid experience with managing the electrical project documentation, including Single line, Three line and control diagram, Electrical Studies (load flow, short circuit, motor starting and protection coordination).
  • Have a solid experience in Grid connection requirements, studies (transient stability, electrical protections coordination, auto reclose, harmonics, PSS setting, Q/V, synchronous resonance, etc) and tests
  • Have a solid experience in logic diagrams; cable routes and cable trays; I/O electrical and control signals; fiber optics links and communication equipment; critical safety tables; control strategies and operating procedures/training manuals through commissioning, start-up, and operation.
  • Have a solid understanding of fundamentals of power generation and generating units (voltage/reactive power control; speed and load controls; island transition and operation).
  • Have important knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to Power Generation Plants, and Oil and Gas and Refining Industries (API, ISA, NEC / IEC, NFPA, ASME, ANSI/ASME, ASTM, etc.) also knowledge of Saudi Aramco specifications, standards, safety procedures, and working practices will be an advantage.
  • Have working knowledge in the use of industry wide design software packages like ETAP
  • Bring experience to suggest new economical ways in designing the work – identify problem areas in the work practices and suggest improvements based on feedback and own previous experience.
  • Working experience in selection, specification, and design of major electrical equipment.
