The Rail team is seeking an Assistant Engineer to work on a number of multidisciplinary rail projects from our Manchester office. The team continues to grow rapidly and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to work within the Rail sector and others within the group, and build upon recent project successes.
The WSP Rail team provides leading services in
• Infrastructure Renewal Projects.
• Major Rail Development Projects
• Station Development and Upgrade.
• Mechanical & Electrical Services.
• Signalling and Telecommunications/CCTV.
The current & future project opportunities WSP have resulted in the need to recruit high calibre professionals with the capability to support senior members to manage and deliver the design of multi-disciplinary rail projects.
We are offering an opportunity in our growing team for an individual to continue to develop themselves within the WSP team in the UK. Our strategy is simple, good people, rewarding work, terms and a team approach that are second to none.
A typical week would include: Supporting others with tenders and design projects, both technically and commercially.
The successful candidate is preferred to have some post graduate experience on Rail projects. You will be technically minded and progressing your career through a Chartered Engineering training agreement. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of the Network Rail GRIP process and the Network Rail approvals process.
We'd love to hear from you if you have: MEng or MSc in an Engineering qualification Progressing towards Chartered MICE or MIStructE. Project Management and Design Management experience. Experience of designing and delivering rail projects. Understanding of Network Rail’s GRIP process and Engineering Assurance procedures. Awareness of Network Rail standard construction details, particularly for platforms and bridges. Working knowledge of Network Rail’s procedures for safe working on site, including Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets. Ability to commission, interpret and apply site surveys such as gauging and ground investigation.
