Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Director Power Electronics who will lead an expanding Power Electronics department to create state-of-the-art and innovative Power Electronics products for our customers. This position will report to the Vice President Engineering.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a current team of hardware, software and test engineers totalling 10 people located in Aachen and Cluj
  • Generate and drive a departmental vision which is aligned with overall strategic objectives for the business
  • Continue the growth of competencies with the group along with identifying new hires for the Power Electronics team  
  • Communicate to upper management on key strategic projects
  • Create and execute new product development plans
  • Collaborate with other Emerson global regions and external technical agencies
  • Provide high level technical support to customers
  • Network and collaborate with industry forums and research institutions

Our ideal candidate: 

  • MSc or PHD in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Electronics
  • Proven experience in the following areas: managing a technical department, communication skills, global perspective and project management skills.
  • Fluent in English.  Any other European language is an asset
  • Experience with heating, A/C & refrigeration applications and associated technologies (vapor compression) is a plus
  • Willingness for some travel
