We are currently looking for a Mechanical Specialist/Sr. Mechanical Specialist for our Purvis, MS office.
In this role, your primary responsibility will include the day-to-day operations and maintenance tasks associated with the Black Creek Compressor station. You will be responsible for regulatory compliance including environmental, health and safety, operations, maintenance and repair of station equipment along with the pipeline and associated measurement facilities and will be expected to follow procedures associated with DOT regulations, industry standards, manufacturer recommendations and BWP guidelines as they relate to equipment, pipelines and appurtenances. This includes, but is not limited to operating the facilities, the lead role in the repair and maintenance of reciprocating natural gas fired Caterpillar engines and associated compressor units including the overhaul and mechanical repairs of all reciprocating natural gas engines and compressors. Additional responsibilities include valve inspections, line patrol, yard maintenance, tank gauging, atmospheric and corrosion monitoring, completing OMS database compliance and maintenance inspections as assigned, performing routine maintenance activities such as filter changes, cleaning and inspecting coolers, periodic checks associated with various components throughout the facility and with engines/compressor (e.g. valves, shut-down devices, rod/bearing clearances, packing, piston clearances, lube oil samples, web deflections, cooling fan inspections, emergency shut-down systems, fire/gas detection, etc.), assisting with calibration of temperature and pressure transmitters and other electrical maintenance, monitoring flows and operating conditions of all units at the Black Creek facility. You will follow all BWP safety rules, environmental and OSHA regulations and document all maintenance activities and operational data and will also assist at other area compressor facilities with mechanical repairs on an as needed basis. Additionally, you will be responsible for emergency response and part of the on-call rotation and must live within 30 miles of the Black Creek Compressor Station facility located near Purvis, MS in order to respond to call outs expediently.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
*1+ years’ experience in operation and maintenance of Caterpillar natural gas fired engines
*On the job training or work experience in the natural gas industry or equivalent petrochemical/oil industry
*Self-motivated and have a strong commitment to personal and team safety
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
*Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including hot, cold, muddy, rocky and wet environments and ability to stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs and ladders, etc.
*Ability to utilize a PC and manage a filing system
*Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong mechanical aptitude
*Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet
*Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record with no restrictions
*High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
*Associate’s degree in a related field
*3+ years of gas pipeline operations and Caterpillar engine/Arial compressor experience
*3+ years of Electrical and Instrumentation experience
