If you are an ENGINEERING professional looking for an opportunity to lead new product development efforts for state-of-the-art hardware focused on Direct Outside Air Systems, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our SIDNEY, OH location, you will provide technical direction related to our new, industry-leading, Air Management solutions. Candidates must have proven experience navigating the early phases of scope definition up through product launch, including field testing. A key factor for success in this role is the ability to collaborate with Design Engineering, Controls Engineering, and other stakeholders to drive success and innovation. This position will be responsible for the development, evaluation, and maturation of new HMX technologies to improve efficiency, cost, and reliability, while enabling incremental value for customer applications.

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER, YOU WILL:

Conceive, mature, and qualify new HVAC hardware technologies per business objectives.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor capable of developing a team of engineers to follow a disciplined, technical problem-solving process.
Drive NPD development through a systematic release process to support market needs.
Grow and develop a team of project engineers.
Engage directly with Sales, Marketing, Application Engineering, AME, Product Planning, Procurement, and other supporting groups to advance NPD efforts.
Advise and shape development testing plans based on a mindset towards risk mitigation, and coordinate with appropriate resources for timely execution.
Partner with the simulation team to optimize existing modeling and engineering tools, as well as facilitate the creation of new design and analysis techniques.
Provide timely communication to stakeholders that include engineering and program updates/gate reviews.
Drive accountability while identifying and solving resource/infrastructure challenges in real-time.
Oversee engineering builds, pilots, and samples supporting the development and product launches.
Support activities in system design, configuration, testing, and site commissioning of lab and field test demonstrations.
Perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
Five (5)+ years of experience in NPD through a systematic release process
Experience in people leadership, co-op or intern management will be considered
Proven ability to integrate different technologies into a cohesive, technical system to meet market requirements
Motivated self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment
Strong project management skills, including developing program schedules and driving team decisions
Decent understanding of Thermodynamics, and its application to HVAC applications
Familiarity with analytical methods (FEA, CFD, etc.) and the ability to assist in structuring studies
Basic working knowledge of advanced analytical techniques and how to deploy them
Experience with 3D CAD software, such as Siemens NX9.0, SolidWorks, or CREO
Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the year
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
Experience with polymer part design, development, and manufacturability
Strong understanding of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and its application to HVAC
HVAC systems awareness with compressor, power electronics, and other system controls
Two (2)+ years of industry experience with heat exchanger development
Experience with LEAN product development tools and passion for continuous improvement
Knowledge using Teamcenter database software
