Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking an Area Operations Manager to join our team located in Denver, Colorado.

This role is responsible for activities in Sales, Service, Distribution, Production, Manufacturing and Maintenance to ensure required Linde business objectives are met. This role will report directly to the Desert Mountain Region General Manager.

Area Operations Manager

Lead a team of Plant Managers, Branch Managers, and Territory Managers as well as being directly responsible for :

  • Plant Operations
  • Branch Operations
  • Area Sales
  • Distribution
  • Quality and Compliance
  • Ensures region meets or exceeds financial targets for sales, margin, and operating profit
  • Coordinates and directs the activities in all branches to meet or exceed sales and margin targets.
  • Creates sales plans & KPIs for assigned region to meet sales objectives
  • Maintains and increases existing revenue stream
  • Oversight of 3-5 retail branches, cylinder plants, dry ice production, and distribution of products
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key Linde customers in the region
  • Secures long term Product Service Agreements (PSA) with Linde customers
  • Resolves customer concerns in a timely manner
  • Maximizes wallet share by coordinating with Linde marketing programs
  • Maintains a close relationship with other regions & Business Units
  • Responsible for working with National Gas Group in bringing new products and services relating to specialty gases back to the region
  • Oversees all production & distribution activities for plants as well as all distribution for internal shuttles throughout the markets
  • Responsible for safety and compliance (internal Linde standards, FDA, Federal, State, & local regulations for the division)
  • Manages Productivity, Lean & Six Sigma Initiatives
  • Works directly with region Productivity management team
  • Creates & manages operational plans that result in the accomplishment of Linde objectives
  • Develop yearly plant management operational goals with interim and final operational performance, and manages performance against the goals
  • Continues to utilize current US West Best Practices :
  • Facilitate Weekly Plant Expense Management Review Calls
  • Manage and Distribute Monthly Plant KPI Actuals Chart
  • Coordinate and facilitates activities and commitments with sales organization
  • Ensures strategies are appropriately formulated and communication plans are provided
  • Monitors trends, develops procedures, and takes actions that set precedents
  • Develop continuous process improvement projects with retail and plant operations teams
  • Staff, train, coach, and administer performance reviews, and corrective action of subordinate employees
  • Ensure direct staff is also staffing, training, coaching, administering performance reviews and corrective actions down through the operations organization
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external standards
  • Works with strategic independence, conferring with Region and Senior Management on more complex assignments
  • Develops documented operational planning and goals
  • Coordinate’s operations and project work with corporate functions including logistics, engineering, human resources, and finance
  • Coordinate vacation schedules for all responsible branches, plants, and sales personnel
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in accordance with branch/plant/distribution reporting schedule
  • Supervises the daily activities of a minimum of two employees in a manner consistent with Linde’s Leadership values
  • Directs staff to perform their job duties in compliance with Safety standards
  • Provides guidance to team members on how to provide service consistent with Customer Focused Behaviors
  • Proactively recognizes and provides training and development as needed
  • Builds effective relationships with customers through on-site visits, TM and Driver ride along and resolves customer concerns in a timely manner
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and senior managements direction related to the business plan
  • Ensures efficient management of staff schedule and operations
  • Oversees the process of setting inventory level targets to meet customer and sales expectations
  • Plans for future needs and monitors manpower levels to ensure continued efficiency
  • Review’s plant/ branch/ area/ product reports and provides executive management with analysis and recommendations for business improvements based on such analysis
  • Perform all job duties in compliance with Safety standards
  • Manages people in accordance with Linde's Leadership Strategy
  • Removes barriers that may cause roadblocks for team members to achieve their goals
  • Approve and control department budget and expenses
  • Participates with LEAN and Six Sigma projects that relate to Industrial Gas

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Highschool Diploma required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Operations Management, Production Supervision, and/or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience within Sales & Sales Management required.
  • Previous large team management experience preferred; ability to distance manage other managers of people.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality principles.
  • Strong record of building teams and developing direct reports.
  • Experience controlling and monitoring plant operations.
  • Experience with financial balance sheets (P&L).
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office is required, SAP experience desired.
  • Process systems knowledge and expertise.
  • Hazardous Incident Response knowledge desired.
  • Strong Coaching skills.
  • Ability to work with all staffing levels.
  • Ability to supervise, problem solve, schedule work assignment, and motivate production personnel.
