We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Staff Accountant located in Dallas, Texas.

Essential Job Duties:     

  • Review, monitor, analyze and organize daily bank activity and reporting from the Bank of America Cashpro Website. Prepare manual journal entries in SAP for USD and foreign currencies to match bank activity.
  • Monitor and manage exceptions to the automatic postings in SAP for disbursements and dummy accounts derived from bank files received daily. Determines proper account coding for infrequent transactions.
  • Prepare Working Capital model supporting schedules for actual and outlook including investigation of new items for accounting treatment, and analysis of outlooks for accuracy.  This includes researching trade payable account activity for key raw materials, outlooking trends based on historical activity and providing management with variance explanations for actual versus outlook of prices and volumes.
  • Prepare bank audit reports and archive supporting documentation such as bank statements from online banking system as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on reconciling items as necessary.
  • Research, analyze and problem solve transactions for certain balance sheet accounts (trade, plant and miscellaneous) and providing timely and accurate financial models and schedules as required by the supervisor or manager. 
  • Clear journal entries from suspense accounts in the general ledger and determine proper account coding.        
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of all Miscellaneous & Licensing customer accounts in SAP.         
  • Serve as FileNet/OxyDocs administrator for general accounting and journal entry documentation.            
  • Prepare various journal entries for miscellaneous requested items.                         
  • Prepare and provide to OPC Treasury the monthly 90 Day Cash Forecast supporting schedules for the Chemicals division and variance explanations, as well as, serve as backup in times of absences.  This includes working with other finance functions forecasting and compiling significant cash receipts and payments.
  • Prepare Sales and Use Tax Analysis and Outlook, as well as perform sales and use tax corrections in SAP for Houston Tax dept. This includes analyzing account activity and determining proper resolution of taxable/nontaxable transactions in coordination with OPC Tax department.
  • Support outside accountants/auditors for annual audits, financial statements, and reporting.              
  • Prepare TARPs and Tax Packs to support OPC Tax with preparation Federal/State income tax returns.          

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (with a minimum of 18 hours of Accounting)
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience with integrated ERP accounting systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA.
  • Proficiency in SAP (FI/CO, MM, PA modules)
  • Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with system integration and reporting systems (TM1, Business Warehouse, Hyperion)
