In this role, the Hardware Design Lead Engineer undertakes the system design, implementation and factory acceptance test phases of projects. As member of the Project Management team on a Project he is responsible for managing the delivery of a portfolio of project related engineering deliverables, utilizing the Emerson Process Management global resources and standards; each deliverable having a requisite quality standard, budget and schedule. Further, the Lead Engineer supports the sales and proposals team in the pursuit of new business opportunities.
Responsible for the hardware design in close cooperation with the Hardware Lead and Project Manager from Front Sales Offices;
Coordinate and support the hardware activities of the Front Sales Offices project team;
Coordinate and support the hardware implementation activities with iCenter;
Coordination and support of project activities with regard to hardware factory acceptance test;
Communicate in detail technical matters to support Emerson engineering personnel and iCenter;
Initiate the customer clarification requests and the deviation forms;
Provide sales team with technical support; Applying engineering standards to ensure that uniformity and quality improve within projects;
Report the progress on a regular basis and follow the design and engineering hours budget according to the project schedule;
Follow the Project Management Office working methods, procedures, tools, and identify areas of improvement where needed;
Promote the use of configured cabinets when applicable and provide feedback to the sales team;
Ensuring hardware design is in conformity with customer and industry standards.
- Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge;
- 5 years of relevant industry experience with a proven track record managing system design, implementation and factory acceptance test phases of projects (process automation, systems and instrumentation);
- Ability and talent to lead a technical team – with leadership experience preferred;
- Extensive experience with direct customer contact and managing expectations;
- Local language skills with proficient English (verbal and written); excellent communicator;
- Willingness to travel as required.
