S&C is a specialist in electric power switching and protection, providing products for the electric power industry since 1911.

The Senior Engineer – Product Integration will lead S&C’s development into a high-volume, world class manufacturer of products and technology that supply the world’s largest machine ---- the electric grid. This is an opportunity to join and develop a high-profile team that will lead the integration of design engineering deliverables and operations to drive a flawless new product launch. This individual will be active throughout the entire New Product Development process, working closely with concept and design engineering groups, functional support teams, and production operations. The focus will be on developing and successfully executing a project plan to allow the business to meet product stability targets for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This position is for a self-motivated, goal driven, senior engineer who displays and aptitude in product design and process design, can communicate effectively, and can successfully drive projects to completion. This position will report to the Manager – Product Integration.

 The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Fulfill leadership role as a senior engineer to provide expertise and influence on product, process, equipment, and production decisions.
  • Fulfill a leadership role in high-profile, new product development project execution.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in Product Design
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in Process Design
  • Demonstrate ability to work in cross-functional / matrix reporting structure.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and robust design for product and process
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Design for Automation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and its influence on equipment and process design
  • Demonstrate knowledge on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) including autonomous maintenance, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance
  • Demonstrate knowledge and implement lean manufacturing principles for operations
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the Production Preparation Process (3P)
  • Advocate for promoting automation solutions to traditional manual operations
  • Communicate across the range of stakeholders to develop specifications, identify opportunities, and solve problems
  • Deliver a stable new product to production operations meeting targets for safety, quality, delivery, cost.
  • Experience with manufacturing simulation software a plus

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical engineering
  • 7-10 years on product design and process design
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to clearly present ideas in a variety of forums.
  • Microsoft Office


  • Standing: Occasional, during testing or process observation.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting to 25 lbs. for mock-up or process preparation.
  • Walking: Occasional walking of moderate distances (1 mile) within the S&C complex.
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects for short distances.
  • Pushing: Occasional use of manual hand truck to move samples or mock-ups.
  • Pulling: Occasional use of manual hand truck to move samples or mock-ups.
  • Bending: Occasional bending during mock-up process or assembly or production preparation.
  • Reaching: Occasional reaching during process mock-up assembly or production preparation.
  • Handling: Occasional handling of parts and tools during process mock-up, assembly, or production preparation.
  • Environment: Frequent use of computer workstation in office environment. Occasional work in laboratory environment.
