Metallurgical Coal
Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.   In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.



Job Description

Due to operational success, a newly created position exists for an experienced Training Compliance Coordinator to join the team at our Aquila mine site in Middlemount, QLD. The Aquila project is an underground hard coking coal mine, which will extend the life of Anglo American’s existing Capcoal underground operations by six years, to 2028. As the largest underground coal miner in Australia, we are leveraging the innovative work already under way at our existing mine sites and scaling the development of new technologies in our operations.

Reporting to the Human Resources and Training Superintendent you will be responsible for the application and compliance of the Mine Training and Competency Scheme onsite and provide sound advice to line managers to assist in the delivery of the business plan.

Using your expertise, you will develop the sites Training Needs Analysis as well as identify and recommended opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Training service provision.

Working alongside the Training Compliance Officer and Administration Assistant you will scope, plan, and execute compliance training onsite and work with site Training Coordinators and Trainers and Assessors to build skills and deliver safe, quality training in line with legislative requirements and the Mine Operational plan.



Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Training and Assessing or equivalent
  • Experience delivering site-based training programs
  • Experience managing site-based training requirements
  • Knowledge of current training practices and coal mining legislation will be highly regarded
