Lead Engineer - Power & Control Systems

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Engineer, Power & Controls Systems will provide key leadership with regard to capital and maintain plant project execution, technical troubleshooting and resource development to support reliability of electrical and controls infrastructure, utilities and manufacturing equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Power Systems – assists in the design, maintenance and the continuous improvement of the power systems in our manufacturing plant, including, but not limited to:
Electrical Power Systems
Distributed Process Control Systems
Dedicated Equipment and Machine Control Systems
Responsible for scope development, budget creation/submission, and implementation of projects such as control upgrades and new equipment controls installation; manages the electrical portion of capital projects through the design, approval, implementation, and start up phases specifying and ensuring the consistency of electrical devices on new and replacement equipment
Manages plant’s controls network and infrastructure including recommending and implementing changes and working with Plant Engineer to maintain the future plan and project timelines of capital controls and hardware
Provides support and training to plant technicians regarding controls network and infrastructure
Acts as a liaison with the Information Technology department to ensure the quality and reliability of plant systems
Directs and supports contract engineers in projects and initiatives and represents the Company to outside vendors and customers
Directs and supports JMS E&I and Controls Technicians in projects, initiatives, and daily tasks
Develops and maintains electrical documentation: IP addresses, P&ID and one-line diagrams
Supports the top priority of maintaining a safe operation based on OSHA and NFPA 70E guidelines; pays particular attention to PPE compliance, equipment clearance, raceways, and electrical cabinets. Insists on safety incident reporting and investigation; focuses on de-energized work vs. energized work where possible
Weekend, holiday and off-shift work may be required to meet the plant’s operational and capital project needs
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering degree is required
Experience
At least 2 years of electrical engineering and PLC controls experience in a manufacturing environment is required, food manufacturing experience is preferred
Previous experience with Rockwell Control Logix, Kinetix Servo controllers, WonderWare HMI, Historian, SQL, Fanuc robotics and Factory Talk is preferred
Knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) technologies including Allen-Bradley PLC’s, power systems, motor starters, drives, coding, labeling, instrumentation and network communications
Knowledge of electrical standards related to low voltage safety qualification, NEC, and NFPA 70E
