What we are looking for
Daily oversight and review of a North American power portfolio in multiple markets, working closely with the commercial organization and other internal functions to understand and communicate embedded exposures in the portfolio.
Assess the risks associated with new and existing structured deals and associated hedging strategies.
Collaborating with Commercial Functions to achieve the best possible economic risk-return based on the Commercial Mandates of the individual Commercial Functions
Having a full understanding on a daily basis of all trading activities, current positions, P&L developments and risk figures on a book and portfolio level and in case of implausibility, promptly clarifying the situation
Training and subsequent monitoring and enforcement of market risk policies
Coordinate with broader risk organization on appropriate size, allocation and optimally manage market risk limits.
Conduct back testing of risk metrics including VaR and sensitivity/scenario analysis
Assist traders in highlighting and managing key risk at a strategy and portfolio level.
Market risk policy training and enforcement focusing on the power side of the portfolio.
Who we are seeking
Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Math, Finance, or Statistics
7+ years of working in a trading organization and in a middle office or risk role, with exposure to North American Gas and Power Markets
Proficiency in energy risk assessment and analysis
Understanding of power purchase agreements, HRCO’s, load transactions, renewable markets and associated risks
Well-developed written and verbal communication
Adept at customer interaction and stakeholder management
