Purpose of the Role:    

Reporting to the Production Control Manager, the Material Operations Lead Engineer role will be responsible for managing the Material Operations team ensuring accuracy of the information entered into the ERP system in order to manage material demand for the project, ensuring material deliveries to the production line on time and coordinate design change implementation with clear communication between all functions involved in operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Production Control department as Core Team member and attend project key meetings including core team meetings and project review meetings.
  • Lead the team of Material Operations Engineers and Material Operations Technicians in all of the tasks below.
  • Create necessary project data in ERP system including manufacturing bill of Material (mBOM) structure.
  • Ensure details of new and revised documentation from Engineering are entered accurately into the ERP system and liaise with all other functions regarding the information.
  • Ensure the delivery of material to the production line on time and report on material shortages working closely with Supply Management and Inventory Control.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the planned purchasing and production reports created with the ERP system and ensure these reports are distributed to the functions involved.
  • Manage design change implementation by coordinating change implementation meetings and liaising with all other functions to implement the changes and initiate modifications.    

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing or APICS certification or similar. Someone with experience in Material Operations will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of ERP system is required
  • Ability to read engineering documentation
  • Competence with MS-Office applications
  • A good understanding of business processes across all functions involved in operations is required.
