Rotating Equipment Superintendent

As a Rotating Equipment Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction, installation, and assembly of rotating equipment on our oil and gas project in Ras Laffan, Qatar. Your primary focus will be to lead and motivate the rotating equipment supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure safe work practices, adherence to project specifications, and high-quality standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with various departments to facilitate smooth coordination and timely completion of the construction activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in Rotating Equipment installation and commissioning on large-scale EPC projects
- Experience in managing a team of supervisors and subcontractors/vendors
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards
- Excellent communication and leadership skill.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SHES):
- Prioritize safety as the utmost importance and follow established safety protocols and Golden Rules.
- Attend required SHES/QA trainings to enhance safety awareness and knowledge.
- Lead by example and enforce SHES expectations for rotating/mechanical subcontractor employees, emphasizing safety, quality, positive attitude, and responsibility for self and others.
- Implement and uphold CTJV SHES policies, plans, and procedures.
- Collaborate with the SHES department to support audits and inspections.
- Ensure all temporary works are approved and comply with safety standards.
- Review subcontractors' Work Method Statements (WMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) in collaboration with SHES, Mechanical Supervisors, and Engineers, providing necessary comments and feedback.
Quality Control:
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to all relevant Quality Control (QC) plans and procedures.
- Facilitate participation of civil department personnel in QC audits as requested by the quality department.
- Conduct subcontractor QC surveillance in collaboration with the QC department.
- Ensure timely closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to mechanical works issued by the CTJV quality department.
- Facilitate the implementation of Subcontractor Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) by civil department personnel.
Engineering:
- Implement procedures for handling technical and engineering queries within the rotating department.
- Control and maintain technical documentation within the rotating department according to established procedures.
- Notify Company of any technical deviations for agreement.
- Process field design modifications following approved procedures.
- Ensure subcontractors work with up-to-date design documentation.
- Liaise with the field engineering department to ensure prompt resolution of engineering queries.
Construction Management:
- Promote the professional development of Qatari nationals among subcontractor personnel.
- Safely and efficiently achieve mechanical erection objectives, ensuring high-quality work and profitability.
- Collaborate with SHES, quality, and supporting departments to coordinate mechanical supervision and produce high-quality work in an efficient and safe manner.
- Verify that subcontractors have adequate plans and preparations in place to facilitate the completion of quality work within project timelines.
- Review labor, material, and equipment requirements for civil construction and effectively manage day-to-day activities of Mechanical Supervisors and Subcontractors.
- Review and provide comments on subcontractor schedules, installation sequencing, and coordination with other subcontractors as requested by the project control department.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to establish overall, monthly, and weekly schedules to achieve progress targets.
- Monitor subcontractor schedules and costs, taking corrective actions as necessary to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of mechanical work.
- Maintain appropriate labor ratios for mechanical supervision.
- Keep Company mechanical representatives fully informed of the mechanical status at all times.
- Coordinate interfaces (carnage, scaffolding, etc.) with Mechanical Supervisors and manage the transfer of work between subcontractors.
- Timely coordinate with the material control department to meet construction schedules.
- Manage mechanical subcontractors and Mechanical Supervisors to ensure productivity, efficiency, and adherence to project targets.
- Collaborate closely with the QC department and QC supervision to ensure proficient and efficient mechanical prefabrication and erection.
- Monitor subcontractor labor levels, review trade composition against progress, identify deficiencies,
- Recommend and implement remedial measures to address deficiencies identified during subcontractor evaluations.
- Distribute, assign actions, and follow up on incoming correspondence within the rotating department.
- Work with the Area Construction Superintendent and interface with the field engineering department to manage drawing changes and change control management, including Request for Information (RFI) and queries.
- Assist the subcontract department in activities such as close-out of subcontractor commercial issues, identification of back charges and notification to affected parties, identification of insurance claims, issuing of field instructions/site instructions, inputting change orders, and progress evaluations.
- Consider the financial implications of all instructions to subcontractors, striving to reduce costs whenever possible.
- Conduct performance evaluations every six months.
- Participate in weekly Mass Tool Box Talks (TBT) to promote safety awareness.
- Participate in Daily Task Instructions at least once a week.
- Take part in the Weekly Area Leadership Team (ALT) Walk-Through.
- Document lessons learned and ensure they are shared with relevant stakeholders and incorporated into future work.
- Provide support to the Rotating Discipline Manager's activities upon request.
- Assist with preservation work after Dispatch Release Sheet issuance.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, including Civil, Building, Structure, Electrical, Instrument, Piping, Painting/Scaffolding/Insulation, and Commissioning, as required.
