The energy industry in India
India currently generates over 20% of its energy from renewable sources and as part of the Paris Agreement, it has committed to get this to 40% by the year 2030. However, the country has committed to go even further than this and has set themselves the target of generating a massive 57% of energy capacity from renewables by 2027. The largest source is current hydro, then wind and then solar. India also has a strong mining sector and is the worlds’ largest producer of sheet mica as well as also being one of the largest producers of iron ore, alumina and chromite in the world.
