The energy industry in Germany
Germany is a relatively small producer of oil, ranking 35th in the world but it has been described as one of the worlds’s first major renewable energy economies. In 2019, just under 50% of all electricity consumed in the country came from renewable sources and in 2010, the renewable sector employed 370,000 people in the country. The bulk of the renewable energy is being produced by wind power, in particularly offshore turbines and solar energy and the country has further plans to build new wind and solar plants to support this booming sector.
