The energy industry in Canada
Canada is currently the world’s 4th largest oil producer in the world and has huge plans to increase production in the next 30 years via oil sand exploration. 97% of Canada’s oil production occurs in just three regions; Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador with Alberta being the leading region of the three. However, Canada has also been playing a leading role in the move towards renewable energy and just under 20% of its energy supply comes from renewable sources. It is now the second largest producer of hydroelectricity in the world.
