The energy industry in Angola
As an OPEC member and the second largest producing country in sub-Saharan Africa, Angola plays an important role in the industry. Although production has been falling in recent years, in 2020, Italian company Eni announced that it had started the Agogo oilfield and France’s Total started producing oil at the Kaombo Sil site. Both of these developments are expected to add significantly to the country’s output. The country is also well known for its diamond mining industry and is the third-largest producer in Africa and the country is currently trying to restart its’ iron-ore mining capabilities.
