Purpose:

The North American Payroll Manager is responsible for leading a diverse team in Calgary, Houston and Baton Rouge in the delivery payroll to salary, hourly and craft employees for a large multi-national corporation.   Involves maintaining multiple payroll cycles, timekeeping and benefit programs for 20,000 employees.


Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all payrolls within designation are accurately and timely processed within the agreed SLAs, also adhering to the statutory requirements and company guidelines.
  • Track and analyze trends, deliver monthly operations reports, manage team resources and vendor performance to achieve payroll service performance.
  • Manage team involvements in user acceptance testing in system maintenance and upgrade of multiple system processors in payroll cycles, including time management system (Oracle), people data system (Oracle), payroll systems (ADP and Ceridian). 
  • Act as second level of escalation (Level 1) to the business; coordinate with team members and vendors for effective handling of HR operation support, data analysis, customer complaints and issue resolution.
  • Establish a culture of high performance, professionalism and continuous improvement among the teams on the commitments to standard operating procedures and excellent service deliveries.
  • Manager works with human resources, field administration, finance and third-party providers to ensure compliance with statutory and company standards and on-time error free delivery. 
  • To succeed in the Payroll Manager role, you will need to be to analyze, develop and implement resource plans and sustainable backup planning to meet agreed SLAs and business targets as well as be accountable for the team performance on productivity and agreed KPIs as stated in service level agreements and internal team goals.

What you will bring


Technical and Industry Experience: 
  • More than 15 years working experience in payroll with a minimum of 5 year related working experience in managing the payroll deliveries within a large Region.
  • In-depth knowledge in various payroll procedures and practices, experience in complex country statutory, multiple payroll cycles and high volume (more than 20,000 headcount)
  • Experience in payroll audit management and sound judgement in planning and execution of payroll tasks
  • Effective people management skill and managing service-oriented team in a shared service environment
  • Knowledge of ADP or Ceridian preferred.   Experience with system implementation preferred.  

Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  Required:
  • Certified Payroll Professional
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration.
