Regulated Materials Specialist in Mapping Error!, Not Specified

Woods Environment & Infrastructure divisions core competencies are in environmental assessments, health and environmental risk assessment, environmental geology (site investigation), remediation engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure engineering, and testing, and water resource services. Woods Burnaby office is currently looking for a Regulated Materials Specialist to provide regulated materials assessment and remediation services to our clients. If you have a successful track record of project delivery and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you.

Reporting to the Burnaby Group Manager, your responsibilities may include but wont necessarily be limited to:

  • Strong project and client management skills and ability to lead project teams.
  • Managing regulated material assessment and abatement/remediation projects and preparing reports, health and safety plans, safe work procedures, exposure control plans, and other deliverables;
  • Conducting regulated material assessments and remediation in various sectors including but not limited to clean energy, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, commercial, and government;
  • Assessing buildings for various hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury components, ozone-depleting substances, and suspect visible mould growth.
  • Conducting reviews of building mechanical ventilation systems and monitor for various indoor air quality parameters;
  • Assist on occupational hygiene and safety projects, working with Occupational Hygiene Specialists
  • Conducting training in Regulated Materials and Safety topics such as hazardous materials, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), confined space, fall protection, and chemical, biological, or physical hazards;
  • Networking with internal and external clients to develop work opportunities.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science or Engineering in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene, or related discipline
  • 8+ years experience in Regulated Materials, Occupational Hygiene and/or Environmental Health and Safety field
  • Certification or working towards certification as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Relevant hazardous materials training (e.g. AHERA Building Inspector Course, Alberta Asbestos Worker Course, Hazardous Materials Technician Course, Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor Course, Mould Assessment and Remediation Course, etc.)
  • Experience in the Consulting industry is a definite asset
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to technical excellence
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skill
  • Ability to adapt and work in a team environment
  • Flexibility with respect to remote work and travel
