Job Description

The Project Engineer is the individual assigned to lead engineering activities associated with a Project or projects.  Project Engineer will coordinate various technical disciplines and facilitate communication and collaboration between all disciplines such as Substation Protection and Controls, Substation Physical, Civil/Structural, Transmission/Distribution Lines, Electrical studies, etc. 

The Project Engineer will perform and oversee the engineering and design activities associated with a Project in accordance with the following:
  • Applicable federal, state, regional, and local laws and requirements.
  • Mott MacDonalds Project Procedures.
  • Working with Engineering Director/Supervisor to assign Engineers and Designers in accordance with the needs of the specific project activities.
  • Ensuring that the Engineering work and Engineering support of Mott MacDonald is performed in a technically sound manner and completed in accordance with the Engineering Project Procedures and specific Contract requirements.
  • Responsible for the Quality and Compliance of deliverables.
  • Reviewing deliverables to ensure they are consistent, sound and compliant
  • Responsible for Ensuring Change Management process is followed and technical changes of directive are filed expediently as/if required.
  • Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.
  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
  • Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Accurate records and files.
  • Determining the scope of and level of effort required for the Project Design Reviews.
  • In conjunction with the Engineering Director/Supervisor, selecting Reviewers for Design Reviews.
  • Verifying that the Design Reviews have been performed and that Reviewer comments or issues raised are closed.


 

Candidate Specification

Specific technical or other skills required:
  • P.E. License preferred, able to apply and obtain a PE License is required
  • Desired college degree:  BS Electrical Engineering preferred. Other Engineering disciplines considered
  • Team Lead:  Will lead a team of junior engineers and drafters in the completion of projects
  • 6+ years of industry experience
  • Background in power system design for electrical alternating current (AC) underground and overhead lines.
  • Power system design experience in High Voltage and Extra High Voltage, direct current (DC) overhead and underground lines
  • Renewables experience strongly desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Software or specialized equipment skills (Mark required or desired):
  1. Experience with some technical applications such as: CDEGS, WinIGS; PLS CADD; CymCAPP; ETAP; SKM; PSS/e; ASPEN; AutoCAD; Bentley; etc.  Desired
  2. Excel, Word and Microsoft office suite
