The Role


EDF Renewables UK (EDF RUK) is one of the UKs leading renewable energy companies, specialising in wind power and battery storage technology. EDF RUK develops, builds, operates and maintains wind farms and other renewable technologies throughout their lifetime. The EDF RUK portfolio of nearly 1,000 MW consists of 35 wind farms – including two offshore wind farms – and one of the largest operational battery storage units in Europe. In addition, EDF RUK is seeking to deliver further growth from its own development pipeline or though securing new acquisitions of projects and has more than 2GW consented, in planning and development.

In line with our growth plans, we are looking for an experienced Governance and Support Lead to join our Engineering team based in Houghton le Spring, Durham or Edinburgh.


Youll play a key role in building a strong and compelling vision for delivering Excellence in the Engineering Team and wider business, demonstrating an ability to lead and add value to opportunities in a highly competitive and changing marketplace while ensuring appropriate Engineering and Quality standards are maintained.

Day to Day you will:


• Provide leadership and development of the Engineering Governance and Support Team.
• Oversee resource management of G&S Team activity in line with engineering and internal client priorities, highlighting any risks to meeting expected deadlines.
• Provide Engineering governance and support, including delivering design assurance and quality assurance, across all EDF Renewables Directorates and for the full lifecycle of assets from origination to decommissioning.
• Ensure Engineering activities across EDF Renewables are undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, and, EDF Renewable policies including Zero Harm, Quality, Engineering, and Design Management policies.
• Own the technical management of change process for EDF Renewables including chairing the review boards and oversight of the day-to-day administration of this process by the Technical Clerk.
• Support the Engineering Team Training and Competency matrix by setting and assessing competency levels across disciplines.
• Embed Engineering Excellence and operational experience in EDF Renewables activities.
• Embed the consideration of risk and lifetime costs in all Engineering activities.

The Skills

• Proven leader successful in delivering projects/programmes, establishing/managing relationships, securing and maintaining a safe environment, managing priorities, and inspiring and influencing behaviours and actions.
• Minimum of an engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Chartered membership of an appropriate body would be an advantage.
• NEBOSH or IOSH (or equivalent) is desirable.
• Highly proficient in key areas of engineering in the renewables environment.
• Specialist in at least one engineering discipline within the renewable energy sector.
• Strong experience of managing risks and challenges in a renewables environment.
• Excellent at building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders and reporting line.
• Experience of the energy, construction or similar capital intensive industry is desirable.Leadership and development of the Engineering Governance and Support Team.
